About the Site
Whilst looking to upgrade a tired out monitor I began to read up about the latest technology and quickly became lost amidst the new terms. Last time I bought a monitor I walked in and picked something off the shelf. These days there are important decisions to be made regarding resolution, refresh and sync technologies.
There didn’t seem to be a single place that summarised all the information I needed in one place in an easy to understand way. I found sites were either way too technical or glossed over the important details. We aim to explain all the terms and point confused buyers in the right direction.
This is a community site so we invite you to get involved, please comment on our posts and interact with us whenever possible. We welcome feedback, corrections and different opinions.
Our Reviews
Sadly I do not have a budget to go out and buy all these monitors, nor do manufacturers send me complimentary hardware to review (although they are most welcome to, do give me a shout!) so my reviews are not “hands on”. I do of course check out monitors in the local shops, at work, and I’m always keen to check out my friend’s new purchases!
The reviews on this site are essentially summaries from owner’s opinion, professional reviews and manufacturers description. I take time to analyse feedback from a number of sources to try and give you an accurate overview of the monitor under review. I genuinely hope that this is useful to readers, especially for those who don’t want to pick through some of the highly technical articles out there. I do not ‘cut and paste’ reviews from other sites, and I want to make it clear that (in most cases) I have not had physical access to the monitors.
I also love reader feedback, so please leave your own thoughts on the site.
About the Author
The author is an independent technology fan, an early adopter and PC enthusiast. He built his first computer at the age of 14, it boasted a sizzling 486DXII-66 and 4mb of RAM, paired with a 14″ CRT monitor.
His first flat screen was the Viewsonic 922, capable of 75hz refresh rate and blazing quick response times. A real winner in its day. Unfortunately after many years of fine service it eventually failed and was replaced with a cheap Samsung 1080 panel. Having tasted a quality screen it was a disappointment but with limited funds it stuck around.
The author now owners a top notch Dell and Viewsonic for photo manipulation and gaming respectively.
