The Acer Predator XB270HA is the 1080p TN based screen in the Acer Predator XB270 range of monitors. There are also high res versions available in TN and IPS flavours if you prefer 144p (QHD).

Build Quality

The Predator range comes with the “Acer ErgoStand” which despite the curious branding is a decent solution offering the whole range of movement, height, tilt, swivel and you can pop it into portrait too.

Connectivity it limited to just a DisplayPort, fine if you are hooking it up to a G-Sync graphics card but that’s about the limit. You’ll get stuck if you are hoping to hook up multiple inputs to your screen.

Performance

The Predator range is aimed at gamers so you know you’re in safe hands here. These screens are designed to handle fast action games where there’s a lot going on, for example twitch based shooters are going to work well here. You’ve got a max refresh rate of 144hz and if you’re graphics card can’t maintain a steady output of frames then Nvidia’s G-Sync technology has got your back. The adaptive sync system ensures the monitor shows frames as fast as the GPU is able to render them resulting in a smooth, tear free image.

This is a 1080 HD screen which will still look good at 27″ although many will be looking to move to QHD and beyond. But do remember that the higher resolution monitors need more powerful graphics cards to run them so 1080p is still a sensible option if you aren’t planning a graphics card up date any time soon.

We give the Acer Predator XB270HA a 4.5 out of 5 rating. Want to know what existing owners of the monitor think? You can read real user reviews here.
