If you are looking for a 1080p FreeSync monitor that has a 144Hz refresh rate then there aren’t many options out there at the moment but the AOC G2460PF offers all of this in one nice tidy gamer orientated package.  A 1080p display is actually very respectable especiall on a 24″ monitor.  Whilst there is a lot of talk about higher resolutions and 27″ screens these setups aren’t for everyone and actually the higher resolutions don’t work so well on smaller monitors.

If you are sitting at a desk with a monitor not too far from you a 1080 24″ display is actually a great size, in my opinion at least, for gaming and general computing use.  I actually find it hard to take everything in when looking at a larger screen when sitting at a desk.  But, as always, your preference may be different.

Build Quality

The AOC monitor is fully adjustable which is good news if you like to swivel and tilt to get the angles right on your screen.  You know this is a gaming monitor because of the red tinting across the bottom of the bezel, personally I’m not a great fan and I don’t really get this trend to splash red on any monitor that has “gaming” features but there we are.  I’m sure we can live with it but I’m not convinced it adds anything either!

You also get the full range of connectivity, and even comes with all the cables you need (packages may vary so check with your supplier!). It does have inbuilt speakers too, monitor speakers are rarely good enough to replace your existing separates and looking at owner reviews these ones are no exception! But still, handy if you want to switch from headphones from time to time.

Performance

This monitor runs with the FreeSync system, so if you have a compatible AMD card to pair up with this you should be in line for a fantastic gaming experience.  The FreeSync adaptive synchronisation technology helps to eliminate tearing, stuttering and input lag whilst playing the most demanding games.

This monitor is built with gamers in mind so if you are upgrading from a old standard one you’re going to notice a big difference when running at 144 frames per second. With a 1ms pixel response time, low input lag and of course the option to run with FreeSync you’re going to have a very positive gaming experience.

There are some limitations of the TN panel, colours tend to be less uniform and viewing angles are more limited than compared to an IPS screen for example, but it won’t be a problem for most people especially if you are planning on sitting square on in front of it at your desk.

We give the AOC G2460PF a 4.5 out of 5 rating. Want to know what existing owners of the monitor think? You can read real user reviews here.
