The BenQ BL3200PT is a big ol’ monitor, at 32″ in size it’s going to dominate your desk so make sure you have some space set aside if you want to rock one of these.  It is a 1440p monitor which is a good thing as the bigger you go the higher the resolution you’ll need to get good clear images for professional work.

There is now a more expensive 4k model available, you might want to consider this for the cutting edge image quality but there is a reasonable additional cost to this version.  The BL3200PT is actually fairly accessible for a screen of this size and quality.

Build Quality

The BL3200PT is a good looking monitor, the brushed metal stand is attractive and features a circular control panel that makes navigation all the more easier.  If you’ve ever been frustrated by annoying fiddly buttons then you’ll appreciate this addition.

The screen itself weighs in at an impressive 13kg, it’s not a light weight model, but then you wouldn’t expect that.  There are lighter options at this size however.  Despite this it still has a good range of movement, including 150mm of height adjustment and it can even rotate 90 degrees into portrait mode.  The weight does make setup and adjustments a slight challenge but it’s not something you’ll have to do often.

All the connectors are covered, you have HDMI, VGA, DisplayPort and DVI all built in so you really shouldn’t have any problems hooking this up to your PC.  And they didn’t stop there, they also found space for an SD card reader, headphone jack and a pair of USB 3 ports.

Performance

The Benq uses an AMVA based panel, this tech is supposed to improve contrast and response times over a traditional VA panel.  VA panels win out over IPS thanks to their deep blacks add in true 10-bit colour and you have a high performance monitor that will suit the needs of graphic artists.

Professional reviewers have criticised the overall colour accuracy and warmth of this model but it scores well in other areas.  The VA panel for example gives excellent black levels and contrast.  Benq also claims that it can hit 100% of the sRGB colour gamut.

Input lag doesn’t score so well, but then this isn’t a gaming screen.  It’s actually not too bad given it’s market positioning and will be workable for game play during your down time.  A professional gamer wouldn’t be considering this model.

We give the BenQ BL3200PT a 4.5 out of 5 rating. Want to know what existing owners of the monitor think? You can read real user reviews here.

Should I buy the BenQ BL3200PT?

A large QHD resolution monitor that brings big screen professional editing into the reach of home users.  It's not perfect but it scores well with contrast and excellent black levels, requiring little out of the box tweaking to get it to its full potential. If you are having some doubts about this purchase then why not read some real owner reviews and see what other buyers think.
