The XL2720Z forms part of BenQ’s extensive game ready XL range. These screens are built with gamers in mind so if this is your top priority then you are looking in the right direction. The XL range has built up a solid reputation, they are designed for gamers, by gamers. Well, at least that’s what the brand would have us believe. But given their popularity with pro-gamers there must be something in it.

Build Quality

BenQ have stuck to familiar styling, this model looks like the others that came before it. You can expect a matt black plastic finish with a touch of red colour (this is a gaming monitor after all!). The stand has an angular feel to it, you might think it is slightly mean looking with it’s sharp wedge style base. There is a practical advantage though, it helps to minimise its footprint on your desk. You also get a built-in headphone hook and cable organizer. They’ve thought of everything.

The monitor features BenQ’s RevolutionEyes technology, ZeroFlicker, Black eQualizer, and Low Blue Light technology technologies are all included to ease the strain on your eyes.

Performance

The XL range is engineered with gamers in mind so you can be sure of having a monitor optimised for your favourite FPS games. A fast 1ms response time and low input lag means that the BenQ will feel responsive to your actions. This is a TN based screen, so the compromise is reduced colour performance and particularly you will notice this when looking at it from side on, or from above. But this shouldn’t put gamers off!

We give the BenQ XL2720Z a 4.5 out of 5 rating. Want to know what existing owners of the monitor think? You can read real user reviews here.
