The EV2456 is a 2017 update to the older EV2455.  This model adopts a 16:10 format, giving it a 1920 x 1200 resolution. If you’re not sure what this means, think of it like this, the 16:10 format is slightly squarer when compared to more normal wide screen models, effectively you get some extra horizontal pixels to play with.

Some reviews of these monitors seem to imply that they are for business users, bought for professional environments but there is no reason why home users won’t want to go for this format too.  In fact, I have a 16:10 monitor myself and love the extra space and frankly the squarer format just seems more familiar to me as I grew up in the times before widescreen!

The EV2456 is an IPS screen with a very thin frame, I can see why this might be popular for commercial multi screen setups.  A trader could have have a bank of six of these stacked up very nicely.

Build Quality

The first thing you notice about this model is the design, Eizo know how to build a professional looking monitor with a near frameless design.  The frame is just 1mm across with black borders around the screen that are just 4.4mm!  It is available in white and black, the former being appropriate for designer types looking to pair it up with their shiny Apple computer.  The white version even comes with white cables.

The build is spot on with all the features you would expect from a modern model.  You can raise it, tilt it, rotate and swivel it.  It comes with a carry handle, cable holder and cover to keep everything looking professional.

You can hook it up to your computer using the modern HDMI and DisplayPort or if you have an older PC you can also use the included VGA and DVI ports. Also included are USB ports and headphone jack.

We give the Eizo EV2456 a 4.5 out of 5 rating. Want to know what existing owners of the monitor think? You can read real user reviews here.
