The is a real good looking monitor in my opinion. It is elegant, stylish, super slim and has an ultra thin bezel. It isn’t literally frameless but it’s as frameless as you can get without the screen falling out.
It’s a 27″ model that runs at 1080p with a max refresh rate of 60hz. It’s not targeted at gamers, so if you are looking for a dedicated model this might not be for you but if you want a monitor that will look stunning in your home office which is perfectly capable of running the odd game of Doom then this is a well priced model with superb image quality.
Build Quality
Let’s start with the overall feel of this model, the Viewsonic VX2776 is undoubtedly a great looking monitor. It’s super slim design stands out and will look amazing, seems well suited for designer types looking for something that will fit in with a minimalist style office. It is booth stylish and elegant.
The bezel is super thin, which is something I always like in a monitor, the stand is also elegant but sturdy. Unfortunately there is a down side to this design prioritisation – it lacks adjustability You can tilt it forwards and backwards, but that’s it. The lack of height adjustment is a detractor from my point of view.
Connectivity is provided by DisplayPort, HDMI and VGA options. And there are also two 3.5mm headphone jacks which means you can have external speakers and headphones connected without having to alternate.
It is also worth noting that the power supply is external, meaning you’ll have to find somewhere for the power “brick” to sit. If you are going for a minimal look you’re going to have to come up with a strategy to hide this away.
Performance
The real target buyer for the VX2776 will be home users looking for a high quality image. Professional testers have demonstrated that whilst the out of the box performance is good enough for most, high end users will have to do further calibration to get the colour accuracy they want. But as always these colour configuration files can be found on the Internet once you’ve made your purchase.
Overall, the monitor’s gamut, white point, colour accuracy and colour uniformity all make the grade making this a great choice for buyers who want a great image.
This isn’t a gaming monitor but it is good enough for non-competitive gamers. I’ve not used one myself but those that have report back a generally positive experience and appreciate the image quality. If slow paced strategy games are your bag then there is no reason to be concerned. Even FPS games like Doom will look good on this 27″ high quality screen.
